Contests and contesting are a vibrant part of Amateur radio for many reasons. 
Hams enter alone and in club groups vying for high scores that mean more than competition...
they foster camaraderie, operator competence, efficiency, stimulate equipment/antenna optimization and offer well needed technical experience.

W4DFU is well suited to contesting and a a history of activity, such as sweepstakes 1981. 
Alumni assist by joining current students in joint participation thus passing along talents across generations of Gators.
